Syllabus


Course Description
In class this year, your child will be exploring and learning Science using the  Science Interactions textbook series - Course 3. These series integrates Life, Earth, and Physical Science concepts throughout the school year. Supplemental materials and texts are also utilized to facilitate a clearer and more concise understanding of certain science concepts when necessary. Your child will become acquainted with all types of lab equipment and procedures, while they experiment and explore various science concepts using the steps of the scientific method. Students will also be introduced to the Engineering Design Process and various design projects and activities will be presented. Learning will involve many hands-on experiences and students will work frequently with lab partners in cooperative groups to perform experiments/activities and fulfill assignments. Students will engage in inquiry and problem-solving skills that will encourage initiative and promote higher order thinking skills. Class Participation and Cooperation is necessary for success!!

Supplies Needed
*Appropriate Textbook in class daily (covered at all times)
*3 Ring Binder (1-2”) and loose leaf paper for notes and journal writings
*Notebook Dividers (At least 4)
*1 Subject Notebook and loose leaf paper for notes and vocabulary terms.
*A black/blue pen, pencil and highlighter.
 *Index cards for Key-term definitions-good for study purposes.
** Each student will be responsible for keeping an organized science notebook throughout the school year. This notebook will consist of a 3 ring binder that will contain notes, classwork, homework, lab reports, journal entries, and requested assignment sheets. Students will be responsible to keep an organized Table of Contents summary for each quarter. This notebook/binder will be graded each quarter as a quiz grade.
